Life, Money and Gratitude #2 Imagination Is Everything
"If you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand" Steve Harvey
"Imagination is everything, it is the preview to life's coming attractions."
Albert Einstein one of the greatest minds of our time said "Imagination is everything, it is the preview to life's coming attractions", he understood the power of your imagination. God gave you your imagination so you can see the preview to your own life. You can create your own world in your mind. Take a look at any book, movie, video, website, or just about anything you see, they are just manifestations of things that were made in the imagination. You can see things in your mind that nobody else can see, your mind the miracle that it is, will only show you what you can actually create, it understands your gifts and abilities. It could be a piece of fiction or it could be a real tangible thing, there is no limit. The challenge is not letting the outside world mess up what you can see in your mind. You can start by writing it down.
Writing it down makes it real
In 1989, when I was 16, I was working on a service project and part of the project was answering some questions like; Where do you see yourself in the future? What do you see yourself doing? How will you be of service to others? I answered these questions and promptly forgot what I wrote down. Fast forward 28 years and a friend of mine came across a file with my name on it and sent it to me. The file contained the the questionnaire that I had answered in 1989 and to my astonishment everything I had written down had happened. The world I had created in my mind 28 years ago in my imagination had become real. It was crazy! How is that possible? Then it dawned on me, "Ask, Believe, Receive" I had heard these words before, but they didn't have any meaning to me until now. I had put out my ask 28 years ago, when I wrote it I believed it, and then over time I received it. Powerful idea. Would this work for anything? I don't know, but I embrace my imagination, I save all my ideas and I've upped my ask.
Everything that is, was once imagined
Look around you, everything you see was once just an idea. The chair you're sitting on, the room you're in, the device you're reading this newsletter on, all just ideas in some ones head. The things that we see today are the successes, the final product, we have no idea how many things didn't work or how much trial and error got us to what we see today. Let's take a look at the simple #2 yellow pencil as an example. Graphite has been around a long time and I imagine it was used like chalk on a tablet, it worked but it was messy. Then a piece of cloth was wrapped around the graphite, this made it less messy but still not ideal. In the next iteration two skinny pieces of wood were tied around a sliver of graphite and the pencil is born. As time went on the shape of the pencil was changed so it wouldn't roll off a table and an eraser was attached to the back, which is a great innovation, if you didn't like what you wrote or drew, you could correct it. All this started as an idea to create something to write with, a simply idea in some ones imagination. The real power of this invention, the #2 pencil, is what you can do with it, a piece of paper and your #2 pencil can unleash your mind and your imagination. You can write or draw your ideas down.
If you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand
Steve Harvey the great comedian and entertainer said, "If you can see it in your mind you can hold it in your hand". He would know, he came from nothing, he lost everything he ever had twice, was homeless, lived in his car for a couple years, was divorced twice and faced many other challenges over his life. The thing that kept him going was an idea he had about being on tv when he was ten years old, he saw it in his mind and believed it could happen. He is the ideal person to explain how important your thoughts are and how vital it is to protect your thoughts and nourish them. Your Imagination Is Everything!
